Elizabeth and a few others have noticed, admired, and commented on the Double Wedding Ring quilt I have on the bed in my sewing room.I need to say that I did not make this little beauty. My darling husband gave it to me for my 25th birthday, as I have written about here. We found it on American eBay and got it for a great price. The person selling it had not labelled it as a Double Wedding Ring, so I don't think it had a lot of traffic on the site.
I love it so much. It took me quite a while to have the confidence to even let guests sleep under it, as I think it is very precious. I love the fabrics, the hand quilting, and the secret history it holds.

Sydney, it is gorgeous! And such a thoughtful gift from your husband! I went back and read your original post about it. Thanks so much for satisfying my curiosity about it! Double Wedding Rings are one of my favorites. Making one is definitely on my 'bucket' list of quilt to make.

ReplyDeleteThere is something so special about the double wedding ring quilt. Is it because of the sentiment or because it's just a beautiful layout, or maybe because I think it's a difficult quilt to make, so to see one so well done is just a treasure.

I am enjoying reading through your archives. I really want to start quilting, but I am rubbish with a sewing machine and would want to do it by hand. I know that whole cloth quilts were a big tradition here in the UK, I think I may try that first. I am also collecting my son's plaid and striped shirts to make him a memory quilt one day. So little time and so much fun stuff to do...

I don't have a designated room as such...but I have craft things laying all over the house..mainly in my bedroom, the living room and the kitchen table. My dad is pretty gracious about is all.

Lovely quilt, I am a fan of orange. I have made several and enjoy the scrappy ones. I have seen several over the years and always enjoy seeing how each is similar yet unique. glad you won this bid. cw
